Pairing in Atomic Fermi Gases
نویسنده
چکیده
Strong evidence for pairing and superfluidity has recently been found in atomic Fermi gases at the BCS-BEC crossover both in collective modes and RF excitation energies. It is argued that the scale for the effective pairing gaps measured in RF experiments is set by the lowest quasiparticle in-gap excitation energies. These are calculated at the BCS-BEC crossover from semiclassical solutions to the BogoliubovdeGennes equations. The possible coupling between the lowest quasiparticle excitation energies and the radial breathing mode is also discussed.

Pseudogap phenomena in ultracold atomic Fermi gases
The pairing and superfluid phenomena in a two-component ultracold atomic Fermi gas is an analogue of Cooper pairing and superconductivity in an electron system, in particular, the high Tc superconductors. Owing to the various tunable parameters that have been made accessible experimentally in recent years, atomic Fermi gases can be explored as a prototype or quantum simulator of superconductors...
متن کاملPairing gap and in-gap excitations in trapped fermionic superfluids.
We consider trapped atomic Fermi gases with Feshbach-resonance enhanced interactions in pseudogap and superfluid temperatures. We calculate the spectrum of radio-frequency (or laser) excitations for transitions that transfer atoms out of the superfluid state. The spectrum displays the pairing gap and also the contribution of unpaired atoms, that is, in-gap excitations. The results support the c...

متن کاملDetermination of the superfluid gap in atomic Fermi gases by quasiparticle spectroscopy.
We present majority and minority radio frequency spectra of strongly interacting imbalanced Fermi gases of 6Li. We observed a smooth evolution in the nature of pairing correlations from pairing in the superfluid region to polaron binding in the highly polarized normal region. The imbalance induces quasiparticles in the superfluid region even at very low temperature. This leads to a local bimoda...
متن کاملRadio-frequency spectroscopy and the pairing gap in trapped Fermi gases
We present a theoretical interpretation of radio frequency RF pairing gap experiments in trapped atomic Fermi gases, over the entire range of the BCS–Bose-Einstein condensation BEC crossover, for temperatures above and below Tc. Our calculated RF excitation spectra, as well as the density profiles on which they are based, are in semiquantitative agreement with experiment. We provide a detailed ...
